GRACosway’s Melbourne office has been bolstered by the arrival of experienced public affairs and communications professional Dimity Paul as the firm’s newest Director of Public Affairs.

Dimity’s career has encompassed government and stakeholder relations, policy, communications, crisis and reputation management and community engagement. She has worked for Australia’s largest energy retail and generation business, not-for-profits and as a chief of staff in both the Federal and Victorian governments.

With extensive experience working with energy and climate change policy and regulation, Dimity will offer clients meaningful insights into the challenges and opportunities for businesses responding to the energy transition.

Dimity has also provided policy advice and served as a chief of staff to a Parliamentary Secretary in the Defence portfolio and to a Victorian Minister of Small Business, Innovation and Trade.

Richard King, GRACosway’s Managing Partner – Public Affairs, said,

We are delighted to welcome Dimity to the GRACosway Public Affairs team as the new leader of our Victorian state practice, and as a key member of our Federal practice.

Dimity’s impressive career to date has spanned policy and politics, as well as combining both private sector and not-for-profit experience. Dimity’s insights and experience will be of great benefit to clients and stakeholders alike.”

Dimity said:

In my experience, I don’t think there has ever been a more important time for organisations to have good public affairs planning and management in place. Uncertainty breeds risk and this is best managed proactively, minimising business and reputational impacts.

I am looking forward to working with our clients and providing counsel to help achieve their government relations objectives and ensure strong business outcomes.”

A non-executive director and volunteer in the not-for-profit sector, Dimity is passionate about women’s economic equality, health and safety, and is a fierce advocate for breast cancer research and trials.

Dimity is a graduate of Melbourne University with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in History and minoring in German and holds a Master of Communication from RMIT University which included a thesis on political communication and media framing.
